ShowBot Terms of Use
Effective 22 October 2026
These terms are between you and Element NRG Inc., a Delaware corporation based in Washington State, and cover your use of ShowBot and its account service. Apple's standard licence for App Store apps is the licence for the app itself. These terms add to it; they don't replace it. You accept these terms when you sign in to ShowBot, and we record the version you accepted. Our Privacy Policy, at show-bot.ai/privacy, explains what data ShowBot handles.
Who can use ShowBot
You must be 13 or older. If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission to use ShowBot and to buy anything in it.
Your guides are yours
These terms give us no rights to anything you record or write. In this version of ShowBot, your recordings and guides stay on your phone, and in your own iCloud backup if you use one. Apart from that backup, what you record or write leaves your phone only in these ways: text a draft needs, if you allow ShowBot's cloud AI to use it; what you write in feedback or in answers to our questions, when you send them; a screenshot, only if you choose to attach one to feedback; and anything you export or share yourself. We use text sent for a draft only to make that draft, and feedback only as described under Feedback. What you do with an export is up to you. We can't see, recover or delete what's on your phone, in your iCloud backup or in your exports. If we ever offer a way to contribute guides to us, it will be a separate choice you make, never part of these terms. If ShowBot later lets you send guides to an online service, we'll ask you before anything is sent, and that service will have its own terms. The usage measurements described in our Privacy Policy are about how the app is used, not about what you record, and they give us no rights in your guides either.
AI drafts
ShowBot can draft a starter outline, titles, a description and step instructions for you, and tidy text you type or dictate. With your permission, these drafts are made by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, through ShowBot's cloud service; our Privacy Policy explains what is sent and who handles it. On an iPhone that supports it, this iPhone's own model drafts titles, descriptions and instructions, and tidies text, when you haven't allowed Claude, when Claude isn't available, or when you turn off Use Claude for drafts. Those drafts are marked "Drafted on this iPhone", don't count toward your allowance, and may be simpler. Starter outlines are made only by Claude. Turning off AI assistance in Settings turns off every AI draft, on this iPhone and from Claude. Withdrawing your Cloud AI permission in Settings stops ShowBot sending anything to Claude, for drafts and for sorting your feedback.
Drafts can be wrong or unsafe, and facts in them shouldn't be relied on without checking. You're responsible for checking and editing everything in your guide before you or anyone else relies on it. A draft is part of your guide, and we claim no rights in it.
AI allowances
Drafts from Claude count toward a monthly allowance, which resets each month. Unused drafts don't carry over. When you're running low, the app tells you how many drafts from Claude you have left. We may change allowances. We'll tell you in the app at least 30 days before we reduce the allowance of a subscription or of Founders' Lifetime.
If our AI costs for a month reach the limit we set, drafts from Claude may pause for free and launch-period accounts until the next month. On an iPhone that supports it, this iPhone's own model drafts instead, and those drafts are marked "Drafted on this iPhone". On other iPhones, and for starter outlines on every iPhone, the app tells you drafting is paused.
Feedback
When you send us feedback or answer our questions, we use what you send to fix and improve ShowBot and to reply to you. People at Element NRG read it and approve every reply, and you can turn written replies off with Reply to me in the app. If you've allowed Cloud AI, Claude also helps us sort what you send; our Privacy Policy explains how. If you suggest an idea or a feature, we may use it without owing you anything. Sending feedback gives us no rights in your guides, recordings or screenshots, or in anything they show.
Founders' Lifetime and other purchases
Founders' Lifetime, when we offer it, is a one-time purchase, sold for a limited time. It gives your account the Pro AI allowance shown when you buy, exports without the ShowBot end card, and every Pro feature available when you buy it, plus the Pro features we add later, for as long as we offer ShowBot. "Lifetime" means the life of ShowBot, not your lifetime. We don't promise any particular future feature, and our plans may change. Its AI allowance is for fair, personal use. We may adjust it as described under AI allowances, but it will never be lower than the allowance of a Pro subscription at the same time.
Subscriptions. If we offer subscriptions, their price, what they include, any free trial and how they renew are shown before you buy.
Apple handles payment. Apple processes every purchase, renewal, cancellation and refund under its own terms, and refund requests go to Apple. Restore Purchases in the app brings back what you bought with the same Apple ID. Deleting your ShowBot account or the app doesn't cancel a subscription; cancel it in your Apple ID settings.
People and material in your guides
You're responsible for having the consent of anyone you record, including anyone whose voice is captured. In some places, including Washington State, recording a private conversation needs everyone's consent. If someone can't consent for themselves, you need consent from the person legally entitled to give it for them, and you're responsible for having it. If you put a photo, video or other material in a guide that you didn't make yourself, you must have the right to use it, and the consent of the people in it. The consent you need covers how you use a guide, including who you share it or its videos with.
What a guide is
A guide is one person's account of how they do a task. ShowBot doesn't check guides and makes no claim that a guide is accurate, complete or safe, that its author is qualified, or that following it will produce the result shown. Making or following a guide is not training or certification.
Guides others share with you
A guide someone shares with you belongs to the person who made it, not to you or to us. You can open and follow it in ShowBot; anything more you want to do with it is between you and that person. ShowBot doesn't check guides others share, and What a guide is and No warranty apply to them as to any guide, so follow one only if you're satisfied it's safe for you. Deleting a shared guide removes it from your iPhone only.
What not to make
Don't use ShowBot for guides that help anyone harm people, that involve children in unsafe situations, that are sexual, or that facilitate illegal activity. Don't use it for tasks with serious injury risk to an untrained person: firearms, high-voltage electrical work, structural or load-bearing work, or procedures that the law or good practice reserves to licensed or trained health professionals. Describe a dangerous mistake rather than act it out. Guides of everyday personal care and routines are allowed. They show how one person does a task. They aren't medical or care advice, and anyone following one is responsible for checking it with the people responsible for that care.
Don't use ShowBot's AI features to try to produce anything this section forbids, to get around your allowance, your permission choices or our limits, to send automated requests, or to collect or resell drafts outside ShowBot. Drafts from Claude are also subject to Anthropic's Usage Policy, at anthropic.com/legal/aup.
Not a health tool
ShowBot is a general tool for making how-to guides. It isn't a medical device, isn't designed to keep health or medical records, and isn't built to meet the rules that apply to health-care providers. If you work in health care or for a health-care organization, use ShowBot for patient or client care only if your employer allows it. You're responsible for following your employer's policies and the health-privacy laws that apply to you.
The service
During ShowBot's launch period, every account can use every feature without paying. If you buy Founders' Lifetime during that period, it adds what's described under Founders' Lifetime, including a larger AI allowance and exports without the end card. We'll tell you in the app at least 7 days before the launch period ends. After it, some features may need a subscription or Founders' Lifetime. We'll never charge you to keep, export or delete what you've made, or to delete your account.
Exports from an account without a subscription or Founders' Lifetime, including during the launch period, end with a short, silent ShowBot card of a few seconds. It shows the ShowBot logo, "Made with ShowBot", the guide's step and pitfall counts, the creator name you choose, if any, and a QR code that links to show-bot.ai. When you share an export from ShowBot, the message includes a "Made with ShowBot" link. The card and the link give us no rights in your guide, and what you do with the export afterwards is still up to you.
We may change features, remove them, or stop the service. If we stop the service, we'll tell you in the app at least 60 days beforehand so you can export your guides. Once it has stopped, you may not be able to sign in again, and subscriptions and Founders' Lifetime end with it. Keep your own exports of anything that matters to you. You can delete your account at any time. We may close an account used to attack or abuse the service or its AI features.
No warranty
ShowBot is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses arising from using it or from following a guide made with it. If we are liable to you despite this, our total liability is limited to the greater of US$50 and the amount you paid for ShowBot in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms takes away any right that the law doesn't allow a contract to take away.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its rules on choosing another place's law. You keep any protection the law where you live gives you that a contract can't take away.
Any dispute about these terms or ShowBot will be decided in the state courts in Chelan County, Washington, or the federal court for the Eastern District of Washington. You may still bring a claim in small claims court where you live, and you keep any right the law where you live gives you to go to court there.
Changes and contact
We'll change the date above when these terms change, and tell you in the app about any meaningful change before it takes effect. A meaningful change is one that adds a cost or a duty for you, takes away something you've paid for, or changes your rights in what you make or how disputes are decided. Changes to allowances follow AI allowances, not this section. For a meaningful change, we'll ask you to accept the new terms before you keep using ShowBot's online features; until you do, you can still open, edit and export the guides on your phone. If you don't agree, you can stop using ShowBot and delete your account. Questions: info@elementnrg.com.
If a court decides that part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
