ShowBot Privacy Policy
Effective 22 October 2026
ShowBot is made by Element NRG Inc., a Delaware corporation based in Washington State. This policy covers the ShowBot app for iPhone and the ShowBot account service at api.show-bot.ai. Questions about this policy, including about our service providers outside your country, go to our Privacy Officer, who is responsible for privacy at Element NRG: info@elementnrg.com.
In short
- Your videos, audio and photos stay on your iPhone, unless you choose to attach a screenshot to feedback. Your transcripts, step titles, notes and guides stay there too, except text you let Claude use: if you allow Cloud AI, the text a draft needs is sent through our service to Claude, made by Anthropic, and we don't keep that text.
- You sign in with Apple or Google. We keep a random account number, not your name or email address, unless you give us an email address to join the Founders' Panel.
- If you allow Cloud AI, we keep a record of each time you allow it or withdraw it until 24 months after you delete your account, and a count and record of your AI jobs for no more than 13 months. None of these include the text sent or the drafts returned.
- Feedback you send is linked to your account number so we can reply, and kept apart from usage measurements. We delete it after 24 months, and screenshots after 90 days.
- The app sends usage measurements — counts and timings — without your account attached, and you can turn them off.
- Apple handles payment for anything you buy in ShowBot. We never receive your card details.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time.
What stays on your phone
Everything you record or write in ShowBot is stored on your iPhone: video, audio, the transcripts made from your narration, your step titles and notes, and your guides. If you use iCloud Backup, iOS includes them in your backup, which Apple keeps for you in your iCloud account. We can't see your backups.
Speech recognition, for voice commands, transcripts and dictation, runs on your iPhone. iOS's own permission prompt for speech recognition mentions sending speech data to Apple, but ShowBot asks iOS to use only the recognizer on your device.
Your video, audio and photos never leave your phone unless you export them yourself or send them to us — for example, a screenshot you choose to attach to feedback in ShowBot or in TestFlight. The same is true of your transcripts, titles, notes and guides, with two exceptions: if you allow Cloud AI, the text a job needs is sent to our service to make a draft, as described under AI assistance; and what you write in feedback is sent to us, as described under Feedback you send us. If you export a guide bundle, it includes your account number as the guide's author, and the bundle keeps that number even after you delete your account.
When you export a video, ShowBot saves it to your Photos library with add-only access. That lets ShowBot add videos to your library but not see the photos and videos already in it.
Your account
You sign in with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. ShowBot doesn't ask Apple for your name or email address. From Google we receive only an identifier for your Google account.
We keep:
- a random 20-digit account number, which you can see in Settings;
- the identifier Apple or Google gives us for your sign-in, so we recognise you next time;
- for Sign in with Apple, a token from Apple, stored encrypted, which lets us end ShowBot's access to your Apple ID when you delete your account;
- an account activity log, under your account number: when you signed in, your sessions, each time you allow Cloud AI or withdraw it (with the version and language of the permission request), each time you accept our Terms of Use, and changes to your AI settings. We delete each entry 24 months after it was made;
- a record of each version of our Terms of Use you accepted, and when, until 24 months after you delete your account;
- if you allow Cloud AI, your Cloud AI permission history and records of your AI jobs, as described under AI assistance;
- feedback you send us, as described under Feedback you send us;
- if you buy something in ShowBot, a record of the purchase, as described under Purchases;
- if you join the Founders' Panel, the email address you give us, as described under Founders' Panel.
We use these only to sign you in, keep your sessions working, apply your Cloud AI choice and monthly allowance, show that we asked your permission before sending anything to Claude and which Terms of Use you accepted, read and reply to your feedback, give you what you bought and restore it, run the Founders' Panel if you join it, protect the service from misuse, and carry out your requests, such as deleting your account.
We don't keep your name, phone number, contacts or location, and we don't keep your email address unless you give it to us to join the Founders' Panel. We don't keep your IP address. Our service reads it only for a moment, to limit how often requests can be made.
Signing in with Apple and with Google creates two separate accounts. Your account number is written into each guide you create, to record you as its author, and it stays in the guide on your phone.
We don't share information from Google with anyone, and we don't use it for advertising. ShowBot's use of information received from Google follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Usage measurements
ShowBot sends counts and timings of how the app is used — for example, how long each stage of making a guide takes, where people stop, and how many steps, cutaways and pitfalls a guide has. They never include your videos, audio or words. Each one also carries the time it was made, a random identifier for that session of the app, and the app's version. We use them to learn how people use ShowBot and to improve it.
- They're sent without your account attached, under a random key that belongs to this installation of the app.
- Inside each measurement, the identifiers of your guides and steps are replaced with stand-ins your phone calculates using a secret that never leaves it, so we can't match a measurement to the guide it came from.
- They're on by default. To stop them, go to Settings → Usage Measurements and turn off Send usage measurements. Turning them back on sends only measurements made from then on. Your phone keeps its own copy either way.
- We keep them for two years from when we receive them, then delete them automatically. Measurements from our own test builds are kept separately and deleted after 30 days.
- We don't keep anything that connects measurements to you, and we won't try to work out who sent them. That also means we can't find yours to show you or delete them on request, and deleting your account doesn't delete them. Deleting your account does give this installation a new random key, so measurements made afterwards aren't connected to earlier ones.
Answers to the short questions ShowBot sometimes asks are feedback, not usage measurements; see Feedback you send us.
Feedback you send us
You can send us feedback from Settings → Help and feedback, or by shaking your iPhone. You can turn shaking off in Settings. Shaking never opens feedback while the camera is open or the keyboard is up. Now and then ShowBot may also ask you a short question, such as how hard it was to make a guide — no more than three over the launch period. Answering is up to you.
What we receive. The kind of feedback you pick, your note, typed or dictated, and a screenshot if you include one. Each report also carries the app's version, your iPhone model and iOS version, and the screen you came from. An answer to a question holds the question, your answer, any comment, the app's version and the date. All of it is linked to your account number, so we can reply and so it's deleted with your account. Turning off Reply to me in the app stops written replies; your report stays linked to your account.
Screenshots. A screenshot is sent only if you include it. When you send feedback from Settings, screenshots are off unless you turn them on; when you shake your iPhone, one is attached and you can remove it before sending. A screenshot can show your guide and other people, so include one only if you're comfortable sharing what's on screen. Only people at Element NRG see screenshots. They're never sent to any AI service.
Who reads it. People at Element NRG read your feedback and screenshots, and a person approves every reply before it's sent. Replies appear in ShowBot; we don't send notifications about them. If you've allowed Cloud AI, a Claude AI model made by Anthropic, run through Amazon Bedrock in our own Amazon Web Services account in the United States, also reads your feedback and your answers to questions — the words and details, never a screenshot — to label them, group duplicates and spot urgent reports. If you haven't allowed Cloud AI, or you withdraw it, only people read your feedback. Model makers such as Anthropic have no access to it, and we've set Amazon Bedrock to keep none of it. Alerts about urgent reports carry report numbers and labels — never what you wrote, your screenshots or your account number.
Where it's kept, and for how long. Feedback is stored by our own service on Amazon Web Services in the United States, apart from usage measurements and with no way to combine the two. We delete each report, with its replies and labels, 24 months after we receive it; each answer to a question 24 months after we receive it; and each screenshot 90 days after we receive the report it came with. If you delete your account, we delete your feedback, answers and screenshots at once, and they're removed from our backups within 7 days.
AI assistance
ShowBot can draft a starter outline, titles, a guide description and step instructions for you, and tidy text you type or dictate. You can edit everything it drafts. Turning off AI assistance in Settings turns off every AI draft, on your iPhone and from Claude, and you type or dictate instead. Withdrawing your Cloud AI permission in Settings stops ShowBot sending anything to Claude, for drafts and for sorting your feedback.
Drafts from Claude, with your permission. ShowBot asks for your Cloud AI permission before it sends anything. If you allow it, ShowBot sends only the text a job needs to our service at api.show-bot.ai, which passes it to Claude AI models made by Anthropic, through Amazon Bedrock, and returns the draft to your iPhone. Our service and Amazon Bedrock both run on Amazon Web Services in the United States. The text can include your guide's task description, step titles, transcripts of what was said in your videos, text read from a document photo you choose to use, your guide's description, and the text of a box you ask ShowBot to tidy. ShowBot never sends your video, audio, photos or screenshots to any AI service.
Amazon Web Services runs the Claude models in its own systems, and model makers such as Anthropic have no access to the text sent or the drafts returned. We've also set Amazon Bedrock to keep none of it, using its zero data retention setting. You can read Amazon Web Services' description at https://docs.aws.amazon.com/bedrock/latest/userguide/data-retention.html.
If you allow Cloud AI, Claude also helps us sort feedback you send; see Feedback you send us.
What we keep. For AI assistance, our service doesn't store the text it sends or the drafts it receives, and its logs record counts, not your text. Under your account number we keep:
- a record each time you allow Cloud AI or withdraw it: which version of the permission request it was, and when. If you choose Don't Allow, nothing is sent to us, so there's nothing to record;
- a count of your AI jobs each month, to apply your monthly allowance;
- a record of each AI job, which never includes the text sent or the draft returned.
We keep your permission history until 24 months after you delete your account, so we can show that we asked before sending anything, and the count and job records for no more than 13 months, then delete them automatically. Deleting your account deletes the count and job records at the same time. The same permission events also appear in your account activity log (see Your account).
On your iPhone. On an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, Apple's on-device model can write titles, descriptions and instructions, and tidy text, when you haven't allowed Claude, when Claude isn't available, or when you turn off Use Claude for drafts. That text stays on your iPhone. Starter outlines are made only by Claude; while you're offline, ShowBot holds them until you're back online.
Your choices. Your Cloud AI choice is saved to your account. You can withdraw it in Settings at any time. Withdrawing takes effect on your iPhone straight away, even offline, and after that nothing more is sent to Claude, including starter outlines that were waiting to be sent, and Claude no longer sorts your feedback.
Purchases
When we offer them, you can buy Founders' Lifetime and subscriptions in ShowBot. Apple processes every payment under its own terms and privacy policy. We never receive your card or bank details, your name or your Apple ID's email address.
When you buy, Apple tells us about the purchase, and ShowBot attaches your account number so it reaches the right account. Under your account number we keep the product, its status (for example active, expired or refunded), its dates, and the identifiers Apple gives the purchase. We use these only to give you what you bought, apply your allowances, restore your purchases, and count Founders' Lifetime sales against the launch limit.
We keep purchase records while your account exists. If you delete your account, we remove your account number from them and keep the rest for 24 months, to handle refunds and disputes, then delete them.
If you have a subscription, deleting your ShowBot account or the app doesn't cancel it: billing continues through Apple until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings.
Founders' Panel
If you buy Founders' Lifetime, ShowBot may invite you to join the Founders' Panel: a short call with our team about once a month, early looks at new features, and a panel email list. Joining is optional. To join, you type an email address in ShowBot, and ShowBot asks your permission there; we never ask by email. We use that address only for the panel. Every panel email comes from Element NRG Inc., has a link to stop panel email, and carries our mailing address. You can leave the panel in Settings at any time. When you leave, or delete your account, we delete your email address, including from the email service we use to send panel email.
Deleting your account
In ShowBot, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. It needs an internet connection. If you can't use the app, email info@elementnrg.com with your account number and we'll delete the account for you.
We first end ShowBot's access to your Apple ID, then delete your account, its sign-in links, its sessions, the Apple token, your AI job records, your feedback, answers and screenshots, and, if you joined the Founders' Panel, your email address. They're removed from our backups within 7 days. Your guides, and any drafts in them, stay on your phone.
We keep a record that an account with your number was deleted, your account activity log, your AI permission history, your record of accepting our Terms of Use, and your purchase records without your account number. We delete the deletion record and each activity-log entry 24 months after it was made, the permission history and the Terms of Use record 24 months after your account is deleted, and purchase records as described under Purchases. We keep them only to protect the service from misuse, to show that we carried out your request, that we asked your permission before sending anything to Claude and which Terms of Use you accepted, and to handle refunds and disputes. Once your account is deleted, they no longer contain your Apple or Google account identifier.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription; see Purchases.
If you signed in with Google, you can also remove ShowBot from the list of apps connected to your Google Account, in your Google Account settings.
If you stop using Sign in with Apple for ShowBot in your Apple ID settings, we end your sessions and remove the Apple token but keep your account, so signing in again returns the same number. If you delete your Apple ID, we delete your ShowBot account in the same way.
Signing out (Settings → Account → Sign Out) ends your session on that phone only.
Who else is involved
Apple and Google handle your sign-in under their own privacy policies, and Apple processes payment for anything you buy in ShowBot. Our server runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States (Oregon). If you allow Cloud AI, Amazon Bedrock, also run by Amazon Web Services, makes drafts and helps sort your feedback in the United States, using Claude AI models made by Anthropic. If you join the Founders' Panel, an email service we use sends panel email for us. Anyone who handles data for us must protect it at least as well as this policy does. We don't sell data, show ads, use advertising identifiers, or track you across other apps or websites. Because our service and Amazon Bedrock run in the United States, information we hold is stored and processed there, wherever you live, and can be accessed by courts, law enforcement and national security authorities in the United States under its laws.
Apart from working with Apple and Google to sign you in, to process purchases and to end their access when you delete your account; sending text to Amazon Bedrock for drafts and feedback sorting when you allow Cloud AI; and sending panel email through our email service if you join the panel, we'll disclose information only if the law requires it, for example to answer a valid court order.
If you choose, in your iPhone's settings, to share analytics with app developers, Apple sends us crash reports and performance data about ShowBot. They describe how the app ran, such as where it crashed.
We don't track you across other apps or websites, so we treat everyone the same whether or not a browser or device sends a "Do Not Track" signal.
Children
ShowBot isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly create accounts for them. If we learn that a child under 13 has an account, we'll delete it.
Security
Every connection is encrypted, and our service stores everything encrypted on our servers. In addition, the Apple token is encrypted on its own, and session tokens are stored only as one-way hashes. We keep encrypted backups of our service for 7 days, so anything we delete is removed from our backups within 7 days.
Changes
We'll change the date above when this policy changes, and tell you in the app about any meaningful change. If a change would let us use data we already hold in a new way, we'll ask you first.
